Bueno...
Ay caramba! This is my last full month of the mission... it's true! Crazy, weird, mixed feelings coming around! I fly home on August 6. I feel like I didn't even see this coming at all until about 5 weeks ago, and it doesn't even completely feel real yet!
My new companion, Sis. Cole, and I fasted and are praying to see a lot of miracles in this coming month of July! 4 is our lucky number for our "transfer vision": 4 progressing investigators, 4 recent converts attending church regularly, and 4 members preparing for the temple! And 1 baptism!
Sis. Cole is a sweetheart. She works really hard and is great at talking to everyone we come across in such a genuine way. I love her. I started to get sick yesterday and she shows that her first priority is just to take care of me.
We made an amazing young guy named Omar who we contacted as he was walking right past our driveway when we were about to go inside our house! He called us to confirm the appointment we set with him and turns out to be this sincere 24-year-old from Mexico who really wants to make good choices in his life! Plus he reminds me SO MUCH of David Archuleta! Haha It's so funny! His phone was turned off for about 2 days after we first taught him. Then out of the blue while we we were driving to church on Sunday, he called us from a random phone number asking for the address. AND HE CAME! He is so sweet and the ward already loves him! A member even offered to go out to teach him with again us on Tuesday. The elders said they did missionary "role plays" during priesthood meeting and Omar was playing the role of a member teaching someone else about the church, and he loved it! It is so exciting and refreshing to meet someone who has a true desire to have the gospel in his life and then acts on it! :)
A sister in our ward turned 80 on the 4th of July and her son and other members of the ward threw an incredible black-and-white party for her with lots of food and people! So that's where the missionaries spent our 4th of July evening. Which worked out great because it's the only night of the year that we have permission to be out late for fireworks and things, so we got to participate in the fiesta! I even saw some members there from my past areas, and that was really exciting!
My mission has changed me forever! The pure goodness of the gospel is something we don't fully comprehend, and it's the only way to live to make us really happy! Ether 12:4 has stood out to me a lot lately, with the focus of HOPE. I've come to realize that no matter who or where we are, we can find peace and satisfaction the best by getting ourselves right with God, and that happens through living the principles of the gospel.
I love you!
Love,
Hermana Martin
